About the 2021 conference

Building on the success of our previous conferences, the 6th annual British Undergraduate Dental Research Conference will be held virtually due to COVID restrictions. Although it will be virtual, the 2021 conference will be a unique and special event and not one to be missed!

The conference will be held over 3 consecutive Sundays in March 2021:

DAY 1 – SUNDAY 7th MARCH 2021

Inspirational DentTalks (in Ted-talk style) by world-renowned speakers. Plus, two student competitions; one research and one clinical case.

DAY 2 – SUNDAY 14th MARCH 2021

Hands-on Suturing Workshop ran by Dr. Evgeny Kushnerev

DAY 3 – SUNDAY 21st MARCH 2021

Hands-on Posterior Composite Workshop ran by Dr. Shiraz Khan

Whilst these are all components of the BUDRC21, the tickets for each day will be sold separately, so you are able to pick and choose the events you would like to attend. All 3 tickets available will need to be purchased in order to attend the entire conference.

BUDRC 2021 highlights will include:

– An all new 3-day format

– New to this year: kits will be sent out directly to delegates to use during the workshop that they can keep for future use

Suture Kits worth £30 will be shipped directly to all delegates that purchase the suturing ticket

Composite Kits worth £79 from @COMPracticekits will be shipped directly to all delegates that purchase the composite ticket

– A new clinical student competition (open to applicants from BDS 1-4, and BSc 1-3)

– The return of our research student competition (open to applicants from BDS 3-5, and BSc 1-3)

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Delegates must be enrolled in an undergraduate dental course at a UK university. Student ID will be required to confirm this.

How do I attend the event?

Once a ticket has been purchased for the session you would like to attend, a Zoom link be sent out prior to the start of your session.

Do I have to attend all 3 days?

No you do not. The tickets for each event are separate and you can select which you would like to attend.

What virtual platform will the conference take place on?

The event will be held on Zoom.

How does a virtual hands-on session work?

Once you purchase a ticket, you will receive a kit. You then attend the Zoom workshop for a live tutorial which you can follow along to.

How will you get the equipment to me for the hands-on sessions?

During ticket purchase, you will provide your address and we will post the equipment to you to arrive prior to the session.

Do I get to keep the equipment after the session?

Yes! The equipment will be yours forever to keep practicing the skills you learn.

How do I enter the competitions?

What if I have poor internet connection?

Unfortunately this is out of our hands. You could try to get a WiFi extender before the event or use your personal hotspot.

What if my link does not work on the day?

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
